• Four‐day workshop provides theory, instruction and hands‐on experience
  
  
• Includes topics such as excreta management options (eco‐sanitation, sanitation promotion, excavating, lining and emptying pits), wastewater disposal, hygiene and solid waste disposal
  
  
• Explores the relationship between sanitation and health in developing countries
  
  
• Balances theory with practical sessions where participants will design and size pits, construct latrine slabs and hand washing stations
  
  
• Offers basic instruction on water testing
  
  
• Provides opportunity to create an action plan for future work in the field

Workshop Accommodations

The workshop training sessions are held at the Colombiere Conference Center (http://www.colombiere.com/). The Center provides a highly discounted rate that includes room and meals. This allows flexibility with the workshop schedule as well as informal time to meet with trainers and fellow participants. There are some planned evening activities such as opportunities for former workshop participants to share their post-training activities (both successful and not so successful).

We strongly urge everyone – locals as well as out-of-towners – to stay at the Conference Center. The February workshop begins at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1 (for an opening session lasting two hours) and ends at 5:30 pm on Sunday, February 5. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.

Cost, Payment, and Scholarships

The total amount of the workshop (including food and accomodation) comes to $500 and is due upon online registration (we accept debit cards, credit cards, and bank transfers through PayPal).

We were able to subsidize class tuitions fees to keep the cost down more than usual this time around, but we realize that some participants may require financial assistance in order to attend. Scholarships are available for partial coverage of tuition fees only--we cannot assist with travel fees, visas, or anything else. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need. Biosand Filter Workshop Accommodations

The Biosand Filter workshop training sessions are held at the Colombiere Conference Center (http://www.colombiere.com/). The Center provides a highly discounted rate that includes room and meals. This allows flexibility with the workshop schedule as well as informal time to meet with trainers and fellow participants. There are some planned evening activities such as opportunities for former workshop participants to share their post-training activities (both successful and not so successful).

We strongly urge everyone – locals as well as out-of-towners – to stay at the Conference Center. The April workshop begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 14 and ends at 4:30 pm on Monday, April 18. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly. Fifty percent of the total cost is due when you reserve your space at Colombiere. The remaining cost can be paid at the time of the workshop.
